Blakk, with his story telling and unique sound exploded onto Houston music scene in 2011. Blakk’s music represents the challenges that life has confronted him with. His early musical influences were all legendary and included NWA, Tupac and Biggie. He lists Drake and Wale as current rappers who make his playlist. Blakk’s versatility is displayed by his songwriting, the engineering, mixing and mastering of all of his music. In 2012 Blakk launched the independent record label SpaceCity Records and has performed at numerous venues throughout the state of Texas, the highlight of which was opening up for Young Jezzy at Houston’s famous Arena Theater to a sold out crowd of 20,000 people. He was featured on a Coast to Coast Mixtape and in XXL Magazine.
The impact of the shooting death of childhood friend and SpaceCity recording artist, MicFlo caused Blakk to dedicate one of his most popular songs in memory of MicFlo. MicFlo’s untimely death has strengthened Blakk’s determination to succeed and share his music with the world.
Presently, Blakk is signed with manager Scott Maitland’s SBS Entertainment and will be one of the feature acts at the 2015 TSC Marathon in November. His songs are now on ITunes and is getting regular rotation on three independent radio stations, Truth Entertainment, Latino Flavor and Hot TV/Radio, which is broadcast nationwide.
